Welcome 2017 [Bienvenido 2017]

We say goodbye to 2016 and hello to 2017, an opportunity to smile and live life to the max.

2016 was full of changes, learning, adventures, new friendships, and weddings… lots of weddings (I’m going through that age). I was fortunate to receive 2016 next to the Duque family, my parents, sister, and boyfriend in Medellin. Something that with time seems to be harder since we live in different places and the pace of our lives are different. It was a welcome where my heart was truly full.

It was a gratifying year: I was able to see 3 of my best friends getting married and one of them getting engaged; we organized a bachelorette trip to Vegas between girl friends, unforgettable; I had the opportunity to travel with my family to Cancún and the Great Canyon; my French got better; I traveled to Asia for the fist time; I opened my Etsy store; and I started this blog. But I won’t deny it,  I also went through difficult moments, and it was my first full year in France away from my family.

Looking back, I lived more happy moments than bad ones. I enjoyed and appreciated the time I spent with my family and friends more than ever. I learned to be more patient and that everything comes at the right moment; I learned that we always have the opportunity to learn new things from the people close to us; that the mind is not only fed by universities or a job, but by opening our eyes and learning from our surroundings, listening to people, reading, developing our own opinions, and sharing our own experiences. Like they say, it’s not about our failures, mistakes, disappointments, or negative moments in general. It is about our reaction to these circumstances and what we learn from them. Bring it on, 2017!

Sweet Travels!

Despedimos el 2016 y le damos la bienvenida al 2017, una oportunidad mas para sonreír y vivir a lo máximo.

Este 2016 estuvo lleno de cambios, aprendizajes, aventuras, nuevas amistades, y matrimonios…muchos matrimonios (estoy pasando por esa edad). Tuve la fortuna de darle la bienvenida al 2016 al lado de toda la familia Duque, mis padres, hermana, y mi novio en mi Medellín. Algo que con el tiempo parece ser mas difícil ya que todos vivimos en lugares diferentes y el ritmo de vida de cada uno es diferente. Fue una bienvenida en la cual mi corazon estuvo pleno.

Fue un año muy gratificante: pude ver a 3 de mis mejores amigas casarse y a una comprometerse; organizamos un viaje de “despedida de soltera” a Las Vegas entre amigas, inolvidable; tuve la oportunidad de viajar con mi familia a Cancún y al Cañon de Colorado; mejoré mi francés; viajé Asia por prima vez; abrí mi tienda de Etsy; y empecé este blog. Aunque no lo niego, también pasé por momentos difíciles, y fue mi primer año completo en Francia lejos de mi familia.

En retrospectiva fueron mas los momentos buenos que los malos. Esos momentos que pasé con mi familia y amigos me los gocé y los aprecié mas que nunca. Aprendí a ser mas paciente y que todo llega a su tiempo; aprendí a que siempre tenemos la oportunidad de aprender cosas nuevas de nuestro entorno; que la mente no se alimenta con solo una universidad o un trabajo, sino abriendo los ojos y aprendiendo de nuestro alrededor, escuchando a la gente, leyendo, desarrollando nuestras propias opiniones, y compartiendo con otros nuestras propias experiencias. Como dicen por ahi, no se trata de tus fracasos, errores, “malas rachas”, decepciones,  o momentos difíciles en general. Sino de nuestra reacción ante estas circunstancias y lo que aprendemos de ellas. ¡Bienvenido sea el 2017!
